Clijsters fit enough for US Open
TENNIS: Reigning US Open champion Kim Clijsters last night declared she will be fit in time to defend her title at Flushing Meadows next week.
The Belgian 27-year-old required treatment on her left leg during her quarter-final defeat to Russia’s Vera Zvonareva at the Rogers Cup last week.
“I am in no doubt over my participation in the US Open,” she said.
Caroline Wozniacki beat Vera Zvonareva 6-3, 6-2 to win the Rogers Cup.
