Collingwood won’t revel in Australia’s Ashes disarray
ENGLAND’S Paul Collingwood admits enjoying seeing Australia toil in the run-up to the Ashes but is refusing to gloat just yet.
The Aussies slipped to a sixth successive defeat in all formats on Wednesday to Sri Lanka and have had to deny suggestions of a rift between vice-captain Michael Clarke and batsman Mike Hussey.
Yet, ahead of England’s own warm-up match against Western Australia today, Collingwood said: “Obviously it’s a different team to the Test team. But let’s be honest, the more games they lose the better it is for us. The more games they do lose, confidence levels may go down.
“But we’re not going to read too much into it. We’ve got to prepare ourselves as a team to be in the best frame of mind going into the Test matches.”
Hussey, meanwhile, has rubbished rumours of a dressing-room row with skipper in waiting Clarke.
“There’s no problems whatsoever,” he said. “I have a very good relationship actually with Michael Clarke.”
