Commuters hit with severe morning delays on Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines
Commuters continue to be severely disrupted by delays to the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines due to signalling problems.
The Metropolitan Line was hit with severe delays this morning after a Tube driver went through a red light at Harrow-on-the-Hill forcing following trains to be stopped as a safety procedure.

The issue was mention at this morning's London Assembly plenary, where Conservative member Susan Hall asked London mayor Sadiq Khan and Transport for London (TfL) commissioner Mike Brown to apologise for the disruption caused to passengers.
Brown replied: "Safety will always come first – and I would of course make no apology for that – but I would of course apologise for the consequence of delay."

In its latest update TfL said there severe delays between Baker Street and Aldgate with minor delays on the rest of the line.

Elsewhere, the Piccadilly Line was also running with severe delays on its eastbound service due to a signalling issues at Hyde Park Corner. TfL said tickets would be accepted on buses.

The Metropolitan Line is one of the four tube lines that are undergoing modernisation, including the installation of new signalling systems to boost performance and reliability. Other tube lines that are being upgraded are the Circle, District, Hammersmith & City lines.
