Cook under the spotlight
IT’S not the idea of three captains that worries me about England’s brave new direction, more that I don’t think Alastair Cook and Stuart Broad are the right men for the jobs
Broad has had some serious injury problems over the last six months and England should have ensured his reintegration was as smooth as possible. The demands of captaincy are not what he needs right now.
Cook’s promotion, however, is even more baffling and verges on short-sighted. If he wasn’t good enough for the World Cup squad two months ago, why now? Two or three bad scores on the trot and his place in the side, never mind his role as captain, will be called into question.
