Daily-Mail backed laundry app set to merge with German rival

A British online dry cleaner is set to merge with its Berlin-based rival Zipjet as the two firms bid for domination in London.

Laudrapp has agreed to pay just over £17.5m for the German company which has operations in London, Berlin and Paris, Sky News reported.

The services offer to collect and deliver dry cleaning, with a 24-hour turnaround time.

Their operations in London are set to merge after the deal, while customer support based in Berlin will close.

The German firm was backed by Rocket Internet, the investor behind Hello Fresh, while Laundrapp is part-owned by a subsidiary of Daily Mail and General Trust.

Neither company replied to requests for comment.

Sky News said the companies are expecting to break even by September 2021, but will need to raise millions of pounds to get there.

The new business is likely to explore selling off its Berlin operations.
