The death of the commute? Buyers queue round the block for first-ever Canary Wharf flats
It seems the workers of Canary Wharf can't wait to do away with their daily commute, after more than 100 queued up overnight to get their hands on some of the first apartments to go on sale in the district.

The 345 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, designed by Stirling Prize-winner Stanton Williams, went on sale at 10 o'clock yesterday morning, but by 5am a queue had already formed, said Canary Wharf Group, which laid on coffee, tea and breakfast from Le Pain.

The homes, which start at £395,000 for a studio, are the first to go on sale at the 13-storey element of Canary Wharf's 10 Park Drive scheme. When it's completed the development, which also includes a 42 storey tower, will include a health and fitness club with its own pool.
Brian De'ath, head of residential sales at Canary Wharf Group, said it had already received 3,000 registrations for the homes.
"Seeing [the] queue illustrates the high levels of demand," he added.
