Delays on London overground due to train incident at Dalston Kingsland
There are severe delays on the London Overground network due to a fire alert at Dalston earlier this morning which left a number of people injured, with four taken to hospital.
A workman’s drill which had overheated started smoking. Firefighters extinguished the battery and placed it in a bucket of sand. A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said the service was called out at 7.11AM and the "very small" incident was dealt with within 30 minutes.
The station was evacuated as a result of the incident.
A London Ambulance spokesperson said the service was called at 7:36am today to reports of an incident at Dalston Kingsland railway station, E8.
“We sent four ambulance crews, a single responder in a car, an incident response officer and our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) to the scene," the spokesperson added.
“We treated four patients for minor injuries, including head, leg and arm injuries, and took them to a hospital in east London. We also checked over three patients at the scene but they did not need hospital treatment.”

Dalston Kingsland station has since reopened.
British Transport Police (BTP) also attended the incident, and a BTP spokesperson said emergency services were dealing with a non-suspicious electrical fault on a train.
