Deportation fear: UBS rogue trader Kewku Adoboli afraid he could be detained today
Former UBS rogue trader Kweku Adoboli, who was sentenced to seven years in prison after causing a £1.8bn loss, fears he could be detained today ahead of deportation from the UK to Ghana.
The 38-year-old told Morning Wire he would walk into Livingston police station today, where he reports to immigration officials once a month.
It comes after a court denied him permission for a judicial review into the deportation last week.
Adoboli said: “I think it could be the day that they detain me for deportation – over the past 10 days the Home Office has accelerated the process, which is why we are very frightened.”
Adoboli was convicted on two counts of fraud in 2012 after his unauthorised trading lost Swiss banking giant UBS £1.8bn.
