Strikes planned by train drivers on the London Elizabeth Line this week have been called off, a union has announced.

Aslef said on Tuesday the walk-outs would not take place after a new pay offer was made from the Elizabeth Line’s operators, MTR. It will consider offer tomorrow.

Passengers had been expecting significantly reduced services between Liverpool Street station and Shenfield on Thursday and Saturday, with no services before 7am and the last services running from 6pm.

Further industrial action next month has yet to be suspended.

An Aslef spokesperson on Tuesday tweeted: “Strike action on the Elizabeth Line scheduled for 27/02 and 01/03 is suspended following a revised offer from the company, which Aslef’s executive committee will meet to consider tomorrow.”

Mike Bagshaw, managing director for MTR Elizabeth line, told the MailOnline: “I’m pleased that after further negotiation, Aslef members have agreed to suspend strike action upon receipt of an enhanced offer.

“With this agreement to suspend strike action in place, we can continue focusing on delivering the best possible service for our customers.”
