Elon Musk’s SpaceX has raised more than $1bn in last six months

SpaceX has raised more than $1bn (£786m) in financing over the last six months, including $535.7m in an offering that began in April, its regulatory filings on Friday showed.

Elon Musk's company is aiming to roll out a high-speed internet service by using a number of satellites in space.

It had already raised $486.2m in an equity offering, starting back in December, but has now surpassed $1bn.

On Thursday, SpaceX launched its first batch of 60 small satellites into Earth's lower orbit as Musk unveiled his new Starlink internet service.

The Billionaire entrepreneur sees it as an important new revenue stream, expecting to make around $3bn a year.
