England fined €30,000 for laser pointer incident in Denmark semi-final

UEFA has fined England €30,000 (£25,600) for a series of incidents at Wembley during the historic victory over Denmark in the semi-finals of Euro 2020.

A laser pointer was shone in the eyes of Danish goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel as he was preparing to face a penalty kick from England skipper Harry Kane.

Schmeichel saved the initial penalty, but Kane bundled in the rebound from close range to score the goal that sent England through to its first football final since 1966.

UEFA had opened disciplinary proceedings against England on Thursday. The FA were also charged following disturbance during the national anthems and for the setting off of fireworks.

The FA was unable to find the person responsible for using the laser pointer, despite searching for the culprit.
