Construction activity in the Eurozone fell sharply in December, confirming the sector shrank over 2015.

Output in the construction sector dropped 0.6 per cent from November to December, according to figures released this morning by Eurostat, the statistical office of the EU. The amount of construction undertaken in the Eurozone throughout 2015 was one per cent lower that in 2014.

French construction fell by 1.6 per cent from November and 3.6 per cent from December 2015. It's construction contraction was outdone by only Portugal and Slovenia, where output was down 4.7 per cent and 9.3 per cent on the same month last year, respectively. Building in Germany, the Eurozone's largest economy, dipped 1.6 per cent on the year.

Leading the pack was Slovakia at 24.9 per cent growth.
