Every start is precious for Kellock after Azzurri axe
SECOND-ROW Alastair Kellock will be hoping history does not repeat itself when his Scotland side face Italy tomorrow – even though they rallied to a record win.
The Glasgow Warrior was making his first international start in two years against the Azzurri at Murrayfield 12 months ago – and helped them record a biggest ever Six Nations victory.
But then he found himself unceremoniously dropped for the fit-again Jim Hamilton. Since then, however, Kellock has fought his way back into the side and has started all five Tests since Andy Robinson took charge.
But the 28-year-old knows he is just one poor performance away from facing the axe again. “It makes you even more hungry; you realise how fragile it is,” he said. “I’ve got to make sure that every game that I play, I’m playing to the best of my ability.”
