FORMULA ONE:  F1 teams are said to be on the verge of closing in on an agreement to end the power battle with the sport’s governing body, the FIA.

The two parties have been in dispute over a proposed £40m budget cap which has forced FOTA, the teams’ umbrella group, to threaten a boycott for 2010.

But sources say that while talks are at a “delicate stage”, both sides are hopeful of reaching an agreement.
