Facebook’s new photo-sharing app Moments uses artificial intelligence to recognise your face
Sociable smartphone users looking to share photos with friends but somehow not satisfied with Facebook, WhatsApp, Snapchat or Instagram may have finally found the app they've been waiting for.
Facebook Moments is the social media company's latest app which allows users to create shared photo albums stored in the cloud for free.
Unlike existing apps, Moments allows you to create shared albums with a friend or group of friends meaning you can all upload your snaps from a night out in one place.

Product manager Will Ruben explained:
Syncing photos with the Moments app is a private way to give photos to friends and get the photos you didn't take. Moments groups the photos on your phone based on when they were taken and, using facial recognition technology, which friends are in them.
You can then privately sync those photos quickly and easily with specific friends, and they can choose to sync their photos with you as well. Now, you and your friends have all the photos you took together.
Despite the proliferation of photo sharing apps, Facebook believes Moments – built by its Creative Labs team – is the best and most convenient tool yet for sharing pictures amongst a group.
In order to allow users to quickly sort and organise photos, Moments will use facial recognition technology based on work conducted by Facebook's artificial intelligence team.
Creative Labs' projects have struggled to make much impact in the market. Slingshot, the company's supposed Snapchat rival, that allowed for ephemeral messaging failed to garner much interest.
