There are severe delays on the Jubilee Line this afternoon due to an earlier fire alert at London Bridge.

The line was earlier closed between Canary Wharf and Waterloo. TfL said the Northern Line has not been affected.

London Fire Brigade was contacted just after 3pm today to investigate reports of the smell of smoke in a Jubilee Line tunnel, a spokesman said. The fire service has since confirmed on Twitter that it has not detected any fire.

London Bridge was hit by a series of delays this week as Southern Rail was forced to cancel and alter train routes after a sinkhole opened up under the tracks near Forest Hill in South London.

The station was temporarily closed to passengers as it struggled to deal with the travel disruption caused by the sinkhole, on one of the hottest days of the year so far.
