SKETCH POPS UP IN THE ART WORLD

Mayfair destination restaurant Sketch is going to be getting in with the art crowd next month by launching a pop-up café at the Royal Academy of Arts. It’s designed to reflect the themes of the Piccadilly institution’s exhibition GSK Contemporary, Earth: Art of a Changing World, focusing on reducing food miles and promoting sustainability. Sitting adjacent to the exhibition, it’ll be open from the morning onwards with croissants, tartlets, quiche and salads, plus a range of pastries, cakes and mince pies. It’ll be possible to take food away too, meaning local workers can impress their colleagues by saying they’re eating a sandwich from Sketch for lunch. Dec 3-Jan 31, 10am-6pm (open to 10pm on Friday).

DOM PERIGNON AT APSLEYS

Looking for a seriously lavish dining experience for the festive season? Apsleys, the Lanesborough Hotel’s restaurant which was recently relaunched under the direction of three Michelin-starred chef Heinz Beck, has gone into collaboration with champagne brand Dom Perignon with a specially-created tasting menu. To be served throughout November and December, the nine-course menu includes a different vintage of Dom to be served with each dish – and unsurprisingly, it ain’t cheap. Those with £950 to spare can enjoy oyster risotto with Dom Perignon 2000, red mullet in crunchy pastry with rose bubbly from 1998, and cod neru with chickpeas and red pepper with a Dom Perignon Oenotheque from 1969. For further information and reservations, contact Julia Kvarnefalt on [email protected] or on 020 7259 5599.
