Former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan is shot in ‘assassination attempt’

Former prime minister Imran Khan has been shot in the leg and taken to hospital.

According to reports it was an attempted assignation on the former PM and international cricket captain, was, and several other men were injured.

Khan was reportedly hit in the leg while at a protest march, with members of his PTI party shot also.

Four others were injured and nobody was killed.

A senior aide told AFP news agency, according to the BBC,: “This was an attempt to kill him, to assassinate him.”

A male suspect was later arrested, according to Pakistan’s Geo TV.

Khan was stopped from holding political office by the country’s commission over claims he incorrectly declared details of gifts.

He called the probe politically motivated.
