Escalating strikes in Ukraine prompt French missile aid

On Saturday a Ukrainian drone hit a residential house in the Yeysk district of Russia's Krasnodar region, killing two children and hospitalising their parents, officials said. Later the same day Russian ballistic missiles struck the Boryspil district on the eastern edge of Kyiv, killing two civilians and wounding eight.

The twin incidents underscore a widening of the conflict beyond front‑line combat, with civilian areas on both sides becoming targets. The loss of children in Yeysk was described by the regional governor as "vile and cynical", a sentiment echoed by international observers who say the growing civilian toll could pressure governments to step up support.

In response, Emmanuel Macron announced on X that Paris would deliver new interceptor missiles to Ukraine. He wrote, "It is crucial to provide Ukraine with all the necessary means to defend its skies and thwart this aggression," and added that he had spoken with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to confirm the delivery.
