Mining company Fresnillo has reported a 2.4 per cent reduction in gold production for 2014, blaming a court-ordered stoppage of its operations at Soledad-Dipolos.

Meanwhile, silver production increased by 4.9 per cent, boosted by the final three months of the year which saw production jump by 15.5 per cent compared with the same period of 2013. Fresnillo used the results to reveal that its exploration budget for 2015 has been reduced by eight per cent, to $170m (£112m).
