Game of Thrones fans rage at Chinese tech firm Tencent after episode delayed
Chinese Game of Thrones fans expressed their outrage with tech firm Tencent this morning after it postponed the airing of the final episode of the fantasy series.
Tencent Video which owns the broadcast rights to the HBO show in China was scheduled to air the episode at 9am Beijing time (1am GMT).
However, an hour before the scheduled broadcast Tencent posted a message on social media site Weibo announcing the episode would be postponed.

“Dear users, we regret to inform you that the sixth episode of the eighth season of Game of Thrones will not go online at the intended time due to media transfer issues,” Reuters reported the notice as reading. “We will keep you informed of the broadcast time”
A number of viewers expressed anger at Tencent for delaying the final episode of the hit series, with some asking for refunds.
“All those paying members and their trust, and this is how you repay them,” a viewer wrote on Weibo after the broadcast was postponed, Reuters reported.
Shares in parent company Tencent Holdings fell 3.88 per cent today to close at 342 Hong Kong dollars.

Tencent Holdings was contacted for comment.
Last month US telecoms giant AT&T denied it was planning to sell HBO Europe which makes Game of Thrones.
AT&T took control of HBO as part of its $85bn (£66bn) takeover of Time Warner last year.
