Gareth Southgate will be England manager by the end of the month, says former Football Association chief
England caretaker manager Gareth Southgate will be appointed to the role on a full-time basis by the end of the month, according to former Football Association executive Adrian Bevington.
Southgate is expected to be interviewed for the job on Monday, having impressed in a four-match spell after Sam Allardyce’s abrupt departure, and is widely expected to be hired.
“I think Gareth is the only candidate because he has earned it, he should get it and he is the right man for the job,” said Bevington, who was managing director of Club England until 2014.

“There is a board meeting on 30 November of the main FA board and I think Gareth will be the manager by then. I don’t think they will be speaking to anybody else.”
Former Middlesbrough manager Southgate led England to seven points from three World Cup qualifiers and an encouraging draw with Spain in his spell in temporary charge.
England do not play again until March and the FA have not put a timeframe on a permanent appointment.
Southgate’s candidacy is set to be assessed by a five-man panel comprising of FA chairman Greg Clarke, chief executive Martin Glenn, League Managers Association chief Howard Wilkinson and player-turned-pundit Graeme Le Saux.
