Gatwick suspension: Flights resumed but airport warns of delays
Flights at Gatwick Airport will be heavily disrupted for the remainder of the evening after issues with the air traffic control system led to a two-hour shutdown.

All flights in and out of the south London airport were grounded at 5.08pm after unspecified problems in the control tower.
Gatwick apologised for the problems and said it was working with ANS, its air traffic control provider, to rectify the issue.
Flights were resumed at 7pm. However, a Gatwick spokesperson warned there would be delays “throughout the evening” as the airport dealt with a backlog of flights.
“If you are travelling this evening please check the status of your flight with your airline before travelling to the airport, as we return to full operations,” Gatwick wrote in a tweet.
Arrivals information on Gatwick’s website showed some incoming flights have been diverted or cancelled. Others have been delayed by as much as four hours.

Passengers took to Twitter to complain about the delay, with some saying they had been warned of a four-hour delay.
