Legendary DJ Gilles Peterson caught up with Morning Wire Bespoke magazine last week to talk about how the shifting face of the music industry has changed the way he works, how he fancies opening a restaurant and what it’s like to record a radio station for Grand Theft Auto.

Peterson was promoting the launch of a new radio station exclusive to Air New Zealand’s Business Premier passengers flying the airline’s daily service from London to Los Angeles. The show for the airline is heavily influenced by the DJs encyclopaedic knowledge of world music, from Brazilian samba to African funk.

Peterson told Morning Wire Bespoke that LA is among the most inspiring cities in the world for music and culture and curating the show – which will include music from London Grammar, Flying Lotus and Little Dragon – was about capturing that vibrancy.

The new show is live now. To read the full interview, pick up Morning Wire Bespoke magazine, distributed inside your copy of Morning Wire on the last Thursday of every month.
