London played host to a financial technology (FinTech) showcase yesterday as over 70 startups from around the world met at Old Billingsgate market for a showcase of their latest wares.

Each presenting company at Finovate Europe was given seven minutes on stage to wow an audience of over 1,000 executives, venture capitalists, journalists, analysts, and fellow entrepreneurs.

CoinJar, a Bitcoin trading platform which recently moved its headquarters from Australia to London, revealed a new hedged Bitcoin service letting users bet against the volatile crypto currency price fluctuations.

“Hedged accounts are great for people who want to start out with bitcoin for practical purposes but don’t want to manage it actively or worry about price volatility,” CoinJar’s chief executive Asher Tan told the Finovate audience.

Also on show was InvestUP, a Wells-based firm that lets users manage a portfolio of crowdfunding investment from its website, and London-based eToro, a social trading and investments platform.
