How would you like to run your whole house by using just your voice? Google just made that possible by cashing in on the Internet of Things trend.

The tech giant today launched Google Assistant, a digital Man Friday, at its annual developer conference in Mountain View, California

The new device, similar to Apple's Siri, allows users to do everything from controlling appliances such as lighting and TVs, browsing the internet, sending texts to booking movies.

Google Assistant also comes with Google Home, a speaker that will announce all the information you searched for. The device can also be used as a Hi-Fi speaker to play songs from your Android or iOS device.

Two new smart messaging apps called Allo, a messaging app, and Duo, Google’s answer to FaceTime and Skype, were also launched today.

Google also announced an update to its smartwatch Android Wear which will let apps function even if your phone is off. This means you don’t have to rely on your smartphone for your smartwatch to work.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai said: "Computing is poised to evolve beyond just phones. It will be about the context. On phones, in cars, in your homes. Machine learning and artificial intelligence are to be more assertive."
