Could be game, Seasett and match in Golden Gates
IT’S GOING to be pretty tough going come the last few races on Saturday and it could pay to look for horses off low weights.
One of those is SEASETT, who I fancy to give Richard Fahey a second winner of the week in the Golden Gate Handicap (5.35pm).
The recent rain will have been music to the ears of the connections of the son of Wootton Bassett as he’s looked a different horse on a soft surface.
He hosed up on soft ground at Nottingham two starts back and then was just touched off on heavy at Haydock subsequently.
Fahey’s gelding was coming back to the winner that day, so the step up to 1m2f should really suit here.
He gets in off just 8st6lbs and looks a strong each-way player at 8/1.
King Frankel is about as consistent as they come having finished first or second on six of his seven career starts and he is the one to add to a World Pool Quinella with the Tote.
King’s Lynn is an obvious favourite in the proceeding Wokingham Stakes (5.00pm) given he ran really well in the King’s Stand on Tuesday and is seven pounds well-in here.
He has run okay on a soft surface before, but the majority of his form is on fast ground so he looks worth taking on.
I’m going to do that with a couple starting with GULLIVER at 20/1.
David O’Meara’s grand old servant is only three pounds lower than his last winning mark, so is weighted to go well here.
The other one I like the look of is CHIEFOFCHIEFS at 14/1, the winner of the consolation of this race 12 months ago.
He’s run pretty well on his two starts so far this season at Doncaster and Ascot and those should have him primed for this.
Ascot specialist Jamie Spencer takes the ride, and he looks a solid contender off just four pounds higher than his win at last year’s Royal meeting.
