Morgan Stanley has announced that Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital will become its new charity partner, after a vote by their 5,000 London employees.

The bank aims to raise £1.5m over the two year partnership. Employees will raise £750,000, which will be matched by the Morgan Stanley International Foundation.

The money will be used to build a brand new accommodation unit, Morgan Stanley House, which will be for parents whose children are in intensive care and other wards in the hospital. This will allow parents to be a stone’s throw away from their children, giving them direct access whenever it may be required.

The proximity of the unit to the ward means parents can take some time away from the hospital setting, but remain close to their children.

Other charities who bid to become the charity partner were homeless organisation Centrepoint, young person and child cancer support charity Clic Sargent, and Save the Children. They each received a donation of £10,000.

Tim Johnson, chief executive of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity said:

“We are absolutely delighted that Morgan Stanley staff have chosen Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity as their new charity partner. We have a long history of working in partnership with Morgan Stanley and we are thrilled to continue our journey together.”
