BUS and rail group Stagecoach yesterday confirmed it was investing £71m in its greener, smarter bus fleet.

The news comes after the company said earlier this year it would make a multi-million pound investment in hundreds of new vehicles to benefit customers across its provincial bus operations.

In total, the group has ordered 434 new vehicles to be introduced across the its bus operations in Scotland, England and Wales.

The company said that the vehicles meet new emissions standards, to be introduced this year.
