Hamilton owns up as Red Bulls stuff rivals in Turkey
ENGLAND’S Lewis Hamilton last night blamed his own impulsiveness after missing out on a podium place at the Turkish Grand Prix.
McLaren star Hamilton was forced to settle for fourth place as Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel tightened his grip on the season with a commanding win.
Hamilton now trails the German by 34 points and put yesterday’s disappointment down to a failed move on runner-up Mark Webber at the start of the race. “I should have been up to third at the beginning of the race, and I could have been battling for second,” he said. “I was really impatient, so it’s my fault. I made a couple of mistakes at the beginning which cost me quite a lot of ground.”
Hamilton’s team-mate Jenson Button finished sixth and was left to rue pit strategy. “The car felt pretty good and I did in it, but we went the wrong way with strategy,” he said. “To finish sixth is not what I expected.”
