Haye trainer has no fear from Klitschko defence
DAVID HAYE’S trainer Adam Booth is confident he has hatched a plan to beat Vitali Klitschko after the Ukrainian retained his WBC heavyweight title in Berne, Switzerland, on Saturday night.
Klitschko condemned American Kevin Johnson to his first defeat with a unanimous points victory but his laboured performance failed to impress Booth.
“It was a typical Vitali performance. He does the same thing over and over again and everybody that he fights is unable to pose a question of his style,” he said. “He plants his feet in range, uses his height to lean back out of the way of hitting, coming back that may have substance on it and uses his strong arms to push so repetitively.”
After the fight, Klitschko declared himself ready and willing to meet WBA heavyweight champion Haye in the ring.
“This will be very interesting to fight Haye but let’s see what next year brings. Let’s see, I am ready,” he said.
Londoner Haye, who defeated giant Russian Nicolay Valuev last month, is currently nursing a hand injury ahead of his first defence against the mandatory WBA challenger, John Ruiz, in the spring.
