Houses of Parliament: Man arrested after spending night on roof of House of Commons
A man has been arrested after spending the night on the roof of the houses of parliament.
The 23-year-old was detained on suspicion of criminal damage and trespass by the police at around 5am after gaining access to the highly secured building late on Saturday night.
Police, London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance services were called out at 9.15pm on Saturday to reports of a man on the roof of the House of Commons.
After eight hours on top of the building in Westminster, negotiators succeeded in removing the man from the building.

It's not known why the man was on top of the building and he has been taken to a central London police station pending further inquiries.
The Houses of Parliament have previously been targeted by campaigners for protests.
Dozens of Greenpeace campaigners climbed to the top of the London landmark to place a banner calling for action on climate change in 2009.
Protesters against a third Heathrow runway also gained access to the building in 2008.
