Hurricane Gonzalo’s wet and windy weather creates travel chaos: Heathrow flights cancelled, trains delayed
A battering by the remnants of hurricane Gonzalo has caused travel chaos across the UK, with some flights cancelled and trains delayed.
Heathrow warned passengers the strong winds and rain may mean flights are subject to delays and cancellations, saying the 20 largest carriers had made "proactive flight cancellations to give customers as much time as possible to be rebooked onto alternative flights".
Meanwhile, South West Trains warned "poor rail adhesion" was delaying trains by up to 10 minutes, prompting vociferous complaints from passengers.

The Met Office said the worst of the weather will coincide with this morning's rush hour, dying down later in the day.
Gonzalo caused widespread damage and blackouts when it hit Bermuda last week, but it has since lost "the warm-core typical of a tropical cyclone and become a much more standard Atlantic low pressure system", the Met Office added.
