Outgoing Morrisons boss Dalton Philips puts £1.65m York home up for sale
WM Morrison outgoing chief Dalton Philips has put his £1.65m York townhouse up for sale, giving The Capitalist and all you other curtain-twitching, Kirsty Allsopp-watching property clickers a welcome chance to snoop through his home.
And what a house you can get for that money in York! The tasteful five-bedroom listed Georgian pile comes complete with wine cellar, three ensuite bedrooms, detached annexe and views of York Minster.
There’s a large, wooden pig in pride of place in the living room, a modern dining room chandelier reminiscent of a bunch of balloons and a state-of-the-art stainless steel fridge freezer – though no listings clues as to whether it includes a vegetable mister.
Market information in the Rightmove ad says the property was bought in June 2010 for £1.37m, giving Philips up to 37 per cent profit. But that return would no doubt be offset by the recent “comprehensive programme of modernisation”
Philips, who was ousted in January and said last week he would leave the firm today, is returning to his family in Ireland, which, for property reasons, may be a good move. Sadly, in central London, £1.65m might only buy you a two-bedroom flat.
