John Lewis just sent John Lewis a huge #BustertheBoxer-themed thank you gift

One of Morning Wire's favourite festive traditions is kicking back with a mince pie and scrolling through the tweets of Virgina computer science educator, father of four, social liberal, atheist and – crucially – "not a retail store", John Lewis.

For it is at this time of year Lewis, whose Twitter handle is @JohnLewis, is inundated with hundreds of tweets from well-meaning fans, all keen to compliment John Lewis (the department store) on that year's festive ad.

Instead of complaining, each year Lewis patiently responds to tweets with comments like this:

My dog is a Shepard named Sandy, not a Boxer named Buster. You probably want to check with @johnlewisretail. https://t.co/LZUa6V9aV7

— John Lewis (@johnlewis) November 13, 2016

While I am both brilliant and festive, I have done it exactly zero times. @johnlewisretail https://t.co/sUjKVHQHHd

— John Lewis (@johnlewis) November 10, 2016

I do, but my son is watching Netflix at the moment, so… @johnlewisretail https://t.co/OEj57HTXP2

— John Lewis (@johnlewis) November 10, 2016

… and, er, this:

Yeah, you are! Wait, what? https://t.co/ehS4jRp73d

— John Lewis (@johnlewis) November 12, 2016

So far, there's been limited evidence John Lewis (the department store) appreciates Lewis' good humour as much as the rest of the internet does. Until now, that is:

Received a huge package from @johnlewisretail including this amazing embroidered cushion. So cool! Thank you very much! pic.twitter.com/cIMAvPol5D

Yes, John Lewis sent John Lewis a care package. And there was more:

The package included a stuffed Buster, Sid, and Olivia from the ad, as well as Christmas crackers, ornaments, and wrapping paper! pic.twitter.com/YnP3QAwFX9

If ever there was a time we needed heart-warming tales of corporate kindness, this is it. Although we are inclined to agree with John Lewis:

John Lewis agrees with John Lewis about John Lewis. https://t.co/KpCuxaWt45
