JP Morgan makes Linklaters partner its co-head of UK investment banking
Charlie Jacobs, senior partner at magic circle law firm Linklaters, will join JP Morgan as co-head of UK investment banking.
Jacobs, who is one of the city’s major players in the M&A space, will replace Ed Byers who has been promoted to Vice Chair of UK Investment Banking.
Jacobs will co-lead the investment banking operations with David Lomer.
According to a memo seen by Morning Wire, Ed Byers approached JP Morgan last year about the possibility of transferring to a purely client-focused role.
It is an unusual step for an investment bank to hire from other industries, particularly at such a senior level.
Last week JP Morgan announced it had hired Chuka Umunna as its head of ESG in EMEA.
