Just Eat announces acquisition of software provider Practi

Just Eat has acquired Practi, a software service that trades in tablet-based Point of Sale (PoS) and restaurant management systems.

The food delivery marketplace has bought Practi for £6.7m, with further payments dependent on certain commercial milestones.

Just Eat plans to roll out Practi's software to its restaurant partners, providing partners with PoS, payment handling, inventory management, kitchen operation and staff management systems if they do not already have a system in place.

By incorporating the technology with restaurant partners, the London-listed food delivery service says that it will help drive up orders and provide efficiency for partners.

Just Eat's interim chief executive Peter Duffy said that the company was “very excited” about the acquisition due to customer demand for the technology.

“It will play a vital role in supporting small and medium sized restaurants as it transforms how they run their restaurants and deliver the best service for customers through Just Eat,” Duffy added.

The founders of Practi, Ohad and Edan Folman, will join the Just Eat group as part of the deal.

The acquisition of Practi builds upon Just Eat's acquisition of Flyt, which helps connect restaurants with existing PoS systems to the Just Eat platform.
