Kings Cross area in central London evacuated due to suspected gas leak – rail and Tube stations still open
The area around Kings Cross in central London has been evacuated today due to a suspected gas leak.
Network Rail said the train station has not yet been evacuated but the rail operator is monitoring the situation. Transport for London said the incident had no impact on the Tube station.
The emergency services were alerted at 12.46pm to reports of the smell of gas at the junction of Wharfdale Road and York Way. The Metropolitan police are attending, and London Fire Brigade sent a fire engine to the scene.

Several office buildings in the area have been evacuated, including the Guardian's offices on York Way.
