Kinnear resigns at Newcastle
FOOTBALL: Newcastle United last night confirmed director of football Joe Kinnear had resigned with immediate effect. The club’s former manager did not make a permanent signing during his six months at St James’s Park, as the club failed to replace key midfielder Yohan Cabaye before the transfer window closed last Friday. A club statement said: “Newcastle can confirm that Joe Kinnear has resigned from his position as director of football with immediate effect.”
