Lampard: Capello will get it right
ENGLAND midfielder Frank Lampard is convinced manager Fabio Capello will make the correct decision when naming Wayne Rooney’s strike partner for tomorrow night’s crucial World Cup qualifier against Croatia.
With England needing a win to confirm their place in next summer’s finals, boss Capello has a welcome selection headache on his hands as Jermain Defoe and Emile Heskey look set to fight it out for a place in the Italian’s starting line-up.
Aston Villa’s Heskey occupied the shirt for Saturday’s 2-1 friendly victory over Slovenia, although Defoe scored, and Lampard believes both players have made a strong case for a place in the side and has backed Capello to make the right choice.
“I think both players have made great cases,” Lampard said. “Emile has made a great case in the way he has played and Jermain has made the headlines because of his goalscoring.
“We all have faith in the manager. He has shown in his career that he make the right decisions.”
