Leaks galore: What to expect from today’s Google Pixel 3 event

NULL

In an annual event that is now almost always saturated with leaks, today Google is set to unveil a slew of new hardware gadgets including updates to its Pixel smartphone, tablet and smart speaker ranges.

Here are the things you're likely to see walk across the main stage this year:

Pixel 3

The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have been some of the worst-hit devices by leaks this time around, revealing a design with larger screens and keeping with the now-typical iPhone-style notch at the top.

Physically, it's expected to have wireless charging, and two cameras on the front as well as the one on the back. It'll come in three colours: white, black and pink sand.

To go with it, there'll be a wireless charging phone stand, too.

Internally, leaks have suggested some new artificial intelligence-powered camera features which will use software to select the best selfie photo.

A new tablet

Named the Pixel Slate, several leaks have put the new device in a similar style to the iPad Pro and Surface Pro with a high-quality screen and detachable keyboard.

Following the trend, images have suggested the Pixel Slate will be missing a headphone jack and support USB-C, as well as including a fingerprint sensor which is new for a Chrome product.

Google Home Hub

Though the Google Home speaker has had a few revamps since it was first released, it's pretty clear that Google has another add-on to its range in the works.

Google itself was responsible for one of the leaks this time, as a banner popped up advertising the Home Hub for sale on the Google store earlier today before being taken down.

Current photos floating around suggest the Google Home Hub will be its rival to Amazon's Echo Show and the new Facebook Portal to fill the spot of a smart speaker with a screen, although it doesn't look like it'll have a camera for video messaging.

It'll be able to handle voice commands via Ok Google, and control smart home products around the house. The big benefit is potential Youtube support, which is currently missing from competitor devices.

Anything else?

Other rumours include updates to the Pixelbook, Chromecast and Google's wireless headphones Pixel Buds. However these are all minor changes, and some might not be revealed until a later date.
