Leicester striker Vardy could miss Premier League title party after being handed additional one-game ban
Leicester's leading scorer Jamie Vardy could miss the moment his side make history and clinch a maiden top-flight title after being handed an additional one-match ban by the Football Association last night.
Vardy will miss the Foxes’ crunch Premier League clash with Manchester United on Sunday after an independent regulatory commission refused to take a lenient stance on his reaction to being sent off against West Ham earlier this month.
The 29-year-old accepted the charge of improper conduct following an angry confrontation with referee Jonathan Moss after being denied a penalty and shown a second yellow card for diving in Leicester’s 2-2 draw with the Hammers.
Vardy appeared in front of the panel in person yesterday in an attempt to avoid a further suspension – he missed Sunday’s victory over Swansea as a result of his initial dismissal – but to no avail. He was also fined £10,000.
The additional one-game suspension mirrors the punishment doled out to Chelsea frontman Diego Costa earlier in the season when he committed a similar offence after being sent off against Everton at Goodison Park.
