Leyton Orient appoint former West Ham and Newcastle midfielder Kevin Nolan as player-manager
Former West Ham and Newcastle captain Kevin Nolan has been named player-manager of Leyton Orient.
The East London League Two sid have signed the midfielder to a two-and-a-half-year deal as a replacement for Ian Hendon who was sacked on Sunday.
Nolan appeared in the Premier League for West Ham last season but has been without a club since being released at the beginning of the season.
At 33, he becomes the second-youngest manager in the Football League and will take charge of his first training session on Friday.

"Kevin brings with him invaluable expertise and know how, with 17 years' experience in high level football," Orient said in a statement.
"A number of strong candidates were interviewed by the chairman, but Kevin's hunger, desire and passion to succeed at Leyton Orient, coupled with his experience, were key in the decision process and the club believe they have the man to take Leyton Orient forward and improve the club's position."
After suffering relegation from League One last season, Orient currently find themselves 11th in League Two and two points outside the play-off places.
