London Bridge Station closure: Southern and First Capital Connect commuters forced to find alternative routes for nine day partial shut down
London Bridge has partially closed as work takes place on its multi-billion pound makeover as part of the Thameslink upgrade.
First Capital Connect and Southern trains will stop calling at the station for the next nine days, which is likely to affect the 50,000 commuters every hour passing through the station- one of the busiest in the country.
Trains running from London Bridge to Gatwick and Luton airports are also suspended and some London Overground services will be affected.
Transport for London is warning other routes on National Rail and London Overground services as well as Tube, DLR and Tramlink will be busier than usual as passengers take alternative journeys.
TFL is also advising commuters to allow extra time for their journeys.
The closure starts on Saturday 23 August and will end on Sunday 31 August.
Here’s how routes are affected.
Southern and First Capital Connect
No services will run to or from London Bridge station and are diverted to Victoria or Blackfriars. Passengers with National Rail tickets will be accepted on any other reasonable route on train, tube, bus, overground, tram and DLR.

Southeastern
All services will run as normal but may be busier than usual.
London Bridge Tube station
The station and Tube services travelling through will run as normal but may be busier than usual.
Northern Line
Services between Balham and Stockwell are expected to be busier than usual, particularly in peak hours during the week.
Some crowding and queuing is expected at Balham. Clapham South, Clapham Common and Clapham North stations.
District and Circle lines
Between Victoria and Westminster is expected to be busier than usual, especially eastbound in morning rush hour.
Victoria station is likely to be busier than usual.
London Overground
No trains will run to or from New Cross from 26-29 August. Four buses an hour will run to Surrey Quays and Canada Water as a replacement.
Trains between Crystal Palace and Canada Water will run more frequently during peak times reducing waiting time to five minutes.
Trains between Crystal Palace and Dalston Junction will run more frequently at all other times.
Sydenham, Forest Hill, Honor Oak Park, Brockley, New Cross Gate and Surrey Quays stations will be crowded and queuing is expected on platforms.
