Premier League betting tips: Magic man Mourinho to cast his spell again for Chelsea

There is little doubt that this season’s Premier League, on paper at least, looks the most open in recent memory.

Realistically, there are four teams that can win it – last year’s champions Chelsea, Manchester rivals City and United, and Arsenal.

 

Although it has been a very difficult trophy to retain, Jose Mourinho has done it before and he is a notch above his rivals.

 

The Blues haven’t played many shots in the transfer market this summer, but did they really have to?

 

They coasted to the title last term, conceding just 32 goals, a Premier League record, and winning by a comfortable eight points.

 

Thibaut Courtois is an outstanding goalkeeper, while John Terry shows no signs of letting up and has formed an excellent partnership with Gary Cahill.

 

Cesc Fabregas, Eden Hazard and Nemanja Matic dominate the midfield and Diego Costa is a world class striker, perfectly suited to the pace and power of the Premier League.

 

There is a worry that if Costa gets injured again the west London outfit might struggle for goals, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Mourinho brought in another forward before the transfer deadline.

 

Chelsea’s starting XI is comfortably the best in the league and, at 7/4 with Sportingbet, they have to be the selection.

 

City are worthy second favourites following the arrivals of Raheem Sterling and Fabian Delph.

 

However, Manuel Pellegrini remains unconvincing and there is likely to be too much reliance on Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure.

 

Petr Cech is a tremendous signing for Arsenal. They have struggled to find a top class goalkeeper and he will save them 10 goals during the campaign.

 

They could go closer this season, but are still likely to find one or two too strong.

 

United are interesting as they’ve bought some decent players this summer. The worry is their defence, an area which Louis van Gaal surely should have strengthened.

 

At the other end, Leicester could be doomed under the Tinkerman, Claudio Ranieri. There are clearly problems at the club and although he has managed at the highest level, he has done so with relatively little success.
