Manchester City footballer Benjamin Mendy has been charged with two further counts of rape and now faces a total of six counts, plus one count of sexual assault in total.

Mendy has been summonsed to appear at Stockport Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

Four complainants against the City left-back are over the age of 16 and are alleged to have taken place between October 2020 and August 2021.

The 27-year old remains in custody.

Mendy signed for Manchester City in 2017 after transferring from Monaco for £52m.

The France footballer, who has 10 appearances for France, has been suspended by his club pending an investigation.

A second man, Louis Saha Matturie, was also charged with four original counts of rape and has since been charged with an additional two.

The two men are due to go on trial on 24 January 2022.
