Mancini warning for Adebayor
MANCHESTER CITY boss Roberto Mancini has warned Emmanuel Adebayor about his behaviour when he faces former club Arsenal on Saturday.
The Togo striker was ticked off by the Football Association after celebrating scoring a goal in front of Arsenal supporters when the sides last met at Eastlands in September.
Adebayor’s relationship with Gunners fans deteriorated even before his £25m move to City in July, and he is bound to receive a frosty reception from them on his first return to the Emirates Stadium.
Previous boss Mark Hughes was in charge of City at the time of the tempered last match between the two, but successor Mancini is well aware of what went on and has warned his striker about a repeat performance.
“I remember that game because I watched it on TV,” the Italian boss said. “I don’t know why it happened but it is important Emmanuel only concentrates on Manchester City. It is important there is no repeat of those situations.”
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, meanwhile, is hoping midfielder Alex Song will return after missing three games with an inflamed cartilage, although Andrey Arshavin (calf), Manuel Almunia (wrist) and Denilson (groin) are still out.
Wenger said: “Maybe Song [could be back]. He has a test tomorrow and we’ll see. He is a question mark. Apart from that, nobody is back. Andrey Arshavin is out. Everyone else, Gallas, Almunia, Denilson, are still out too.”
