CITY INDEX SLASHES ITS MARGINS
City Index has cut its margin requirements on a range of equities, including on several mining companies, British banks and insurers. Clients can now trade on firms like BHP Billiton with a margin of just 2.5 per cent, down from 15 per cent previously. Joshua Raymond, market strategist, said: “Traders will appreciate the opportunity to use their capital more efficiently”. Lower margin requirements allow traders to place more leveraged bets, magnifying profits and losses.
