Massa shrugs off Button complaints over penalty
FERRARI’S Felipe Massa has dismissed criticism from English former world champion Jenson Button over his driving style in Sunday’s Australian Grand Prix.
Button blamed Massa for his drive-through penalty, arguing the Brazilian’s aggression forced him to illegally cut a corner as they vied for position.
The McLaren driver slipped down the field as a result of the sanction and had to settle for sixth place in the first race of the season. But Massa said: “It was a good fight, no?. I was holding my position and he was not able to pass me.
“He tried many times and I was able to stay there many times. Then, when he passed me, he passed me in a not allowed situation.
“He had to give me back the position or they penalised him, which was the case.”
