May to lead “historic” summit with Polish government
Prime Minister Theresa May will today welcome her Polish opposite number to London at the start of what Downing Street is branding a “historic” cross-government summit.
May will host Prime Minister Beata Szydlo for talks on Brexit and defence co-operation, while senior ministers from both sides will also meet at Lancaster House.
British ministers expected to participate in talks include chancellor Philip Hammond, Brexit secretary Boris Johnson and business secretary Greg Clark.

May is expected to discuss collaboration on trade, investment in science and innovation, and defence and security issues, including Russia's interventions in Syria and Ukraine.
She and Szydlo will also host a joint reception in Downing Street to pay tribute to the contributions of the Polish community in the UK.

Speaking ahead of the summit, May said: "I am determined that Brexit will not weaken our relationship with Poland, rather it will serve as a catalyst to strengthen it.
"That’s why I am hosting the first ever summit of this kind between our countries today. It marks the start of a new chapter in our relations and we will work even more closely together to ensure the security and prosperity of our nations in the years ahead."
